Me at the Great Wall
I'm a third year Linguistics PhD student at Rutgers University. I did my undergrad in math at UCLA, where I was also a member of the Russian Flagship Program. For the overseas portion of the program, I studied Russian for a summer then later a full academic year through Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. You can see a copy of my CV here.
I'm primarily interested in Central Asian Turkic languages and Eastern Indo-Aryan languages. My theoretical interests are mostly in syntax. Currently I'm working on determiner spreading in Magahi. I have done some P-side work as well, specifically on umlaut in Uyghur. Feel free to reach out via email at aidan.sharma@rutgers.edu!
Recent:
I presented with Merlin Balkhash on Kazakh DP reciprocals at Tu+10.
I presented on Uyghur "umlaut" at AMP 2024
Upcoming:
I'll be presenting with Ariela Ye on Vietnamese extra cái definites at TEAL 14.
